A CA 125 test measures the amount of the protein CA 125 (cancer antigen 125) in your blood. A CA 125 test may be used to monitor certain cancers during and after treatment.
In some cases, a CA 125 test may be used to look for early signs of ovarian cancer in people with a very high risk of the disease

Frequently Asked Questions about CA-125, Serum
No, A high CA-125 does not always mean cancer is present.
Generally speaking, the normal range of CA-125 is considered to be 0-35 units/mL, while a level above 35 units/mL is considered to be a high CA-125 level.
Every two to four months for the first two years following the completion of cancer treatment. After this period, the test is ordered every six month for three years and then once per year.
Once sample is reached to the lab, it normally takes 24-48 Hrs.
If testing shows your CA-125 levels have gone down, it usually means the cancer is responding to treatment. If your levels go up or stay the same, it may mean the cancer is not responding to treatment. If you have finished your treatment for ovarian cancer, high CA-125 levels may mean your cancer has come back.
