In a neutrophil blood test, the Neutrophils Count comprises both mature and immature neutrophils. Immature neutrophils are referred to as "bands" in some tests and as "immature granulocytes" in others. In most cases, a high immature Neutrophil Count in a CBC suggests infection.
Multiply the percentage of neutrophils by the total number of WBCs to get your ANC ( in thousands). On your lab result, neutrophils are sometimes referred to as segs or polys, and juvenile neutrophils may be referred to as bands. Add the bands to the neutrophils before multiplying if the bands are indicated as a percentage of WBCs.
